Washing your motorcycle in Germany

Self-service car washes (SB-Waschboxen) are a good place to wash a motorcycle – with care: let the bike cool down, soak before rinsing, keep a large distance from bearings, chain, brakes, electronics and the exhaust, then dry it and lube the chain. In Passau, Die Sauberei Waschpark is made for riders: a HelmSafe helmet cabinet, a helmet disinfection machine and a motorcycle dryer.

  1. Let it cool down Engine, exhaust and brakes should no longer be hot.
  2. Store your helmet At Die Sauberei: in the HelmSafe cabinet, so it stays dry.
  3. Soak Pre-wash or power foam on fairing, wheels and front – insects soften.
  4. Rinse with distance Flat angle, far away. Never aim directly at wheel/steering bearings, chain, brake calipers, switches, connectors, radiator fins or into the exhaust.

  6. Chain and brakes Lube the chain once dry; test the brakes carefully before riding.

Helmet care

After a sweaty tour the helmet lining smells. At Die Sauberei the helmet disinfection refreshes the inside in 3.5 minutes – when the green light comes on, take it out and it's ready to wear. Wash removable pads by hand every few months.
